barrytech
I am lighting a show at the end of March and the director wants to flood the stage with sepia colour at the end of a number to simulate an old photograph. What is the best filter to reproduce this effect. I am fairly new to stage lighting and would appreciate any suggestions. Lee filter numbers would be better for me. Trunker
Well, choose the colours to suit the set and costumes. If these are in colour then its not going to look old, as in black and white. Sit down with your swatch book and director and between you explore ideas.
jonaldridge166
try lee colour 156 (chocolate) I think this may just suit your application. I love it (no not just the food......) for an old fashioned style production.
DonkiDonki
As mentioned by Trunker, this effect is heavily dependent upon the make-up and wardrobe departments. The subjects will need to be dressed in reasonably neutral colours for the sepia effect to work well. If both you and the wardrobe people are trying this out for the first time I would strongly suggest you get together for a little experimentation, if possible. The same goes for any scenery; but of course you can enhance the colours in these areas with subtle use of colour from your lighting for the "normal" lit scene. Neil Hampson
You need to have a good play with a torch and a swatch book on some samples of the costume fabric and paints that are going to be used on the set, as a starter, I really like L017 surprise peach, with L156 chocolate from the other side. As others have said,it really depends on the costumes just as much as the lighting though.
