Powered 12

Hi guys,

Could any of you give me some advice on what would be the best Powered 12 speakers to get.

I will be using them on a mobile disco playing music to under 80 people is small venues, I already have rigs for larger rooms so these speakers will just be for the smaller venues or where there are stairs.

Other than the powered 12 option I have looked at a HK Lucas either the 600 or the 1000, would either of these options be better and or cheaper.

As these speakers will only be used occasionally I would like to get the most cost effective option.

Cheers,

Phil.

I think the phrase “best” and “cost effective” (i.e. cheap) are generally mutually exclusive but I know what you are getting at. On a budget I have used the studiospares active range and they are very good for the money.

Moving up the scale-

QSC make some excellent powered boxes such as the HPR1121 which are very good in my opinion.

There are some other boxes in the middle by the likes of Wharfedale and DAP but I have not used them so I’m not able to give an opinion on them without resorting to quoting spec sheets.

Hope that helps

I have two pairs of W Audio PSR 12A

They are made by warrior who is basically Prolight

they sound LOUD and good, they seem to be very reliable and they cost about £450 a pair. You can even get a pair for below £400 at the moment from people with old stock (the price has risen recently)

they also include custom bags which is a good thing for plastic cabs, also if you want to use them as wedge monitors, you can rotate the horn to get the desired dispersion
