Can you do this in Light Jockey?

Hey guys,

I've been using Light Jockey (version 1!!) in a club, and I'm just new to the job.

I have written some sequences and combined them into cues, and I switch between the cues using some kind of Martin Controller (2510?).

Now the problem I have is, when I select a cue, the movements and colour/gobo changes change as a function of time (in seconds) and don't happen in time to the music. I switch between cues every 4/8/16 bars in the music but it just looks stupid the rest of the time as it's just changing freely and not in time to the music.

Is it possible to tap in the tempo of the music and have the lights move more in sync to the music using Light Jockey version 1?

Thanks!

Andrew

Not with the 2510 - I am 99% sure of that. The 2510 is basically a scene replay device, and not the brightest one at that. To be honest I do not remember ever seeing a tap interface, or a the ability to assign to a speedmaster (of sorts) either... Thankfully it has been a few months since I have had to use LJ, but even so, I do not believe there is an easy way to do it, no....

You can use tap functions on chases in the cue window. Select the chase you want to change. Click chase manual. Then tap the forward arrows twice to select the speed.

This might not be what you after but its one way of doing it.

I'm proberlly wrong. I don't have that in depth knowlege of this product. But there is a button on the front labeled 'Music'. Can the unit its self take an input and relay it back or internaly time the cue triggering to the beat of the music?

The 2510 is indeed a playback unit for lightjockey sequences, but it does have a music function that will trigger the steps of each sequence using the internal microphone. Also in lightjockey you can use the audio analyser function to trigger the steps of sequences. As for the fact you are using Lightjockey 1, I would reccomend upgrading to the latest version, we have come a long way since version 1. Details here
