backwater
Hi Folks, I am having some problems with a Shure 588SD microphone. Basically I am getting no sound (if I tap the top I get a slight sound but nothing more). Having opened it up there are 4 wires from the capsule to a switch(Blue, green, yellow, black) and 6 wires run from the switch to the transformer (2 white, 2 black, light green, dark green). The yellow wire has become disconnected at the switch but connecting this to the one tag on the switch without a wire has no effect. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this mic or know how I can bypass the switch to use the mic in low impedance mode? There isn't a wiring diagram on the shure site - the current version (588SDX) uses an impedance jumper behind the XLR rather than on the switch. Sound Man
Andy Can you work it out from the Shure 588SB Instruction Leaflet? If not try contacting Shure directly. I've just done a quick search on the internet and found one of these mics for sale on e-bay complete with the instructions. David
