Radders
Hi I remember seeing something on TV, possibly on Britain's Got Talent (I can't remember to be sure!) which looked very effective.... It seemed to be just small pieces (6 by 2cm-ish) of rectangular silver paper falling from above but as it was twirling it seemed to look like it was on fire. Is this something completely different? Or if it was just that, where can I source it from? Many thanks.

Modge
.... and the like it was on fire may well have been the lighting
p.k.roberts
I would guess that it was a variant of 'Flutterfetti' combined with lighting. Plenty of confetti options here;http://www.confettimagic.com/pages/confetti.html
Jivemaster
There is cut fetti in that sort of size, in paper and glitter. whether it's all in the fetti or all in the lighting or more likely both, to make the fire effect you will have to find by trial and error,
SFX Gatwick
Hi, The effect is created with a large swirl fan mounted above the stage, the glitter effect is created with metallic confetti. The ones I know are by MagicFX in Holland the bigger XL version gives about a 4m spread. Pyrotechnology have them for hire on their website and also supply the glitter at reasonable prices.
