joannekent
I have been looking on the internet for an authentic looking straight razor for a production of Sweeney Todd, however, the ones that look best are real! Does any one know where I can purchase one for a reasonable price, or if anyone has made one before, how they did it? :)
w/robe
It is a while since they did it but Mountview made some blood razors for their production. I think this has come up before so you could also have a search in past threads.

Neil Hampson
I lit Sweeney Todd for a local company last year, I was also asked to source the razors for them as they were struggling, (it is one of the few props that the Hire companies will not provide.) I approached mountview, but they were only able to offer me two real razors as props. In the end we hired two that had been made by 4th wall. they are oversize, but if anything they do help in making the audience see them (real size razors tend to get lost in the hand as they are quite fine). If you need I'll dig out the contact details. there are two knives, one opens the other is the blood knife and that one is fixed open. Blood is stored in the handle. The box was included. The company were very helpful, all they asked was for us to cover the postage and give a 'donation'to the group, but bear in mind it cost over £20 to post as the box is big and heavy. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f86/neilhampson/Todd/4thwall3.jpghttp://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f86/neilhampson/Todd/DSCF0427.jpghttp://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f86/neilhampson/Todd/DSCF0439.jpghttp://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f86/neilhampson/Todd/DSCF0272.jpg

Congresstech
If its any help to anyone, we had four cut throat razors that we bought from jasonshankey.co.uk, all you have to do is remove the blades and replace them with pieces of foam. I also have the solution available to create the slit throat effect, but it's down to you to risk assess the use of diluted chemicals.
