backwater Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Hi Folks, I have a good flightcase made by ABS cases that was previously used to transport lighting fixtures. The case is not needed for that anymore so I am removing the foam to use the case as a cable trunk. Removing the foam is OK - attack with a scraper and scrape it off but I am having problems removing the glue residue left behind, particularly on the extrusions. The glue seems to have a rubbery consistency (not sure what it is though!) - any ideas how to remove this stuff from the case (the wood surface under the foam/glue is varnished)? I had a search around before posting this but didn't come up with anything. Thanks Andy :D

backwater Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks for that - I'll try it later in the day once the temperature out in the workshop gets a bit warmer. Andy :P

backwater Posted January 31, 2009 Author Posted January 31, 2009 I have now solved this :** laughs out loud **: First I scraped as much off as possible with a scraper. I tried heat - just went very sticky White Spirit - Same Lighter Fluid - Same I eventually tried WD40 and it worked. Spray it on, leave it for a few hours, spray again and scrape. Off it came. Takes a while for the WD40 to soak in but it comes off easily afterwards. Thanks Andy
