Old lighting equipment

I am one of the Production Electricians for the forthcoming UK tour of 'Singin' in the Rain'. I am currently looking for some old lighting equipment for use as practicals and was wondering if anyone out there has anything to offer. Old lanterns of the types like Strand 243, Strand 743, Berkeley Colortran, Mole-Richardson etc would be great. Also, I am hunting for old lighting stands, preferably wheeled. If you have anything please email me at singinintherainlxdept@yahoo.co.uk and I would greatly appreciate it if you could include a photo of the item for approval by the creative team.

Many thanks

I think I'm right in saying that Jim Laws is still in business and does exactly what you are looking for. He has a large barn in Suffolk full of old lighitng kit which he rents to all the major productions co.'s

Mr Hill

SOunds like it might be a good thing I escaped that tour!

Try giving malvern a ring, the've got allsorts lying around, though I have a feeling most of it went to the local amateurs. Also RB lighting does spares for old stuff, they might be able to source some actual units for you!

Enjoy the tour!

Neil
