USB - DMX Hire

Hey Dudes,

Does anyone know anyone in London that hires out DMX usb dongles? Or anyone that might fancy hiring one? I've got a job on Wednesday to set up some macs with custom gobos in them, and I bought the velleman DMX interface from maplin but its in kit form! So I'm just after a back up plan incase it all goes wrong building it tommorow. And I'm also planning on running MagicQ pc via VMware Fusion on my macbook. And allthough matt from chamsys has told me this should be ok, I'm kinda feeling lots of variables there!

Thanks,

Jack

Why not run MagicQ natively on the mac?

Because that only supports the chamsys usb protocall, which I'm sure Matt will tell us all is very well priced, but still isnt £50! And also if you've ever run maqicq nativly on a mac you'll see the problems it has sometimes, which can be really annoying!

If you are planning on running MagicQ you could also consider using an ethernet to DMX device.

If you want usb though, on the chamsys lines, you could go with PC wing. This has two DMX out's as well as playback faders and encoder wheels.

Both artnet ethernet to DMX and the Chamsys PC wing are available for hire from us at Enlightened Lighting ( http://www.enlightenedlighting.co.uk/enl_chamsys.shtml ), I'm sure a courier could be used to get them to you.

Good luck.

Yep, thought about the artnet node option! Not aware of anywhere in london that hire the wing and its a bit bulky, but everyone will be glad to know that the velleman usb DMX thing is up and running! Well eventually!

Thanks for your help.
