Rob_Beech
Budget could be £500 a unit, or £100 a unit. Or anything else. Chinese made : Thomann TA2400, look no further. 3 Year warranty. £240 or so, £ is getting a little better of late. British made : Recent discussion on the Matrix UKP2100, new switch mode versions might be between £350 and £400 or so. Can't confirm price just yet. Or are they too big? Remember the bulk of the money goes on actually having an amplifier at this end of the scale, so the next size down might only be a few quid cheaper. I know for a fact that the TA1400 always used to be a mere £20 or so cheaper than the 2400 making it silly to buy the smaller one. There was more of a difference between that and the next ones down but you start to be a bit limited on power at that end. Rob
ChazHS
Possibly the Crown XLS series too, they are good for the money. Also I've heard good shouts about the new QSC GX Series.

KevinE
Anyone had any issues with these? Lots. I'll PM you with links to an engineer's forum.
Rob_Beech
On the other hand I've never known any major issues. Nothing other than what you'd expect from time to time on any other amp. One of the larger hire companies up north uses them on their D&B Max wedges due to their build, sound, and reliability, though sadly we get issues with the best kit on the market. Luckily though, anyone with any amps like this just has to send them back to Germany (free of charge) and it'll be repaired or replaced. They're cheap enough to buy new ones in 3 years if you sell the old ones on.
Elysium
I dont think for the money, amplifiers come much better than the Samson SX series. I use an SX3200 on my mid/highs and the sound is very, very clean, and LOUD I might add. The S/N ratio of them is from 102-105db depending on which one in the range you go for, and that means its an efficient amplifier. Even the QSC RMX series are only rated at 100db S/N ratio. revbobuk
Does anyone have any idea what the Studiospares Trojan series are underneath? Reasonable price, and Studiospares other 'branded' products are often reasonable - just wondered if anyone had any background on these.
TallMike
didn't think SN ratio was a problem for DJs - usually too much signal :) joking aside though, maybe a second hand amp might be a good idea - like a QSC RMX or Crest CA-something. Elysium
There's hardly any sound quality difference bteween the QSC RMX series and the Samson SX series. I would say that the QSC amps are better though because they have a built in clip limiter, and 30hz and 50hz high pass filters on each channel and can be configured seperately. Plus there's the fact that they're very stable into 2 ohms. I use to have an RMX24560 and ran it into 2 ohms for about 6 hours with no problems. Cheap as chips, with three years to break it!. Anyone had any issues with these? We have a few of them (must be at least a dozen) that go out with our small-ish systems where lack of a brand name won't put the client off. We have never had a single failure in three or fours years of running them. The only downsides I am personally aware of with ours is that the channels can sometimes be slightly mis-matched and the attenuator pots have started to feel a bit rough on the older ones - but they have done a LOT of work. Given that they're very competitively priced when you compare them with the big brands' offerings we have no complaints and often recommend them to clients. KevinE
I agree that Samson are a good budget amp, they arent from the same raft as the others, they're quite nicely made and more like Japanese than Chinese. Those Studiospares look like Guangzhou Windforce but I can't be certain as all the chinese are at it now.
