I guess there's a "get-out" clause if the work is of short duration. But the killer in that situation is that the "three points of contact" rule *always* applies, so if it's work that requires more than one hand you're stuffed (if you follow the rules to the letter, of course).

 

I usually have four points of contact with a ladder two feet and two knees.
