numpty
Hi, We are just setting up an amateur theatre company and have our own lighting and sound equipment that we would like to have insured against theft or damage while in other peoples premises. Our equipment consists of a laptop running ShowMagic, two lighting stands, and several LED parcans. This setup is completely adequate for our needs and keep it all simple. We only perform in small village halls. Can anyone recommend any insurance companies that will insure the equipment while it is in a venue. Obviously I would take the laptop home at the end of the performance but I don't want to be de-rigging lights at the end of each night. Any pointers greatly appreciated. Fletch
Hi, One amatuer group I've worked with before had some sort of general insurance (I think it was provided by NODA) and this also covered equipment owned and hired - although we did have to extend the policy if we hired lots of kit. Afraid I didn't actually sort the insurance myself (the treasurer did) so can't provide any more details. CheersFletch
sjbvision
Try http://www.thebeechtree.com/, he did a fanatstic price for me based on my kit. Allowing it to be insured in my house to the venue and anywhere in between, including my car!! Only thing was room needed to be locked when kit was left alone. Give him a call. drsound
A lot of hire companies use Torribles (LINK) who are now part of the Oval group. I don't know if they cater for amateur ventures but they do some all risks policies targetted towards sound and lighting equipment.
