Trunker
Hi, I am working this week at a school that inherited a Strand MX lighting board when Professional shows moved back to its newly refubished Theatre. The board works OK apart from the FX section doesn't work. I have programmed in a chase, brought up the fx master hit the go stop button but still nothing. Is there something in the menu that disables this function? Or is it broken? Many Thanks
Just Some Bloke
Check the "Effect fade in/out time" fader is not at infinity or it will never fade in. Set it to 0 and it will start straight away.

Just Some Bloke
When you recorded the chase did you have it set to record channels or memories? It it was set to memories when you thought you were recording channels it may be chasing blackouts, or vice versa if it was set to record channels when you thought it was recording memories it may be flashing unused channels. Strand MX can only record subs anyhow. Thanks all guys problem solved I think.

In each step of the chase you can chose to record "channel" or "scene". Incidentally, what was the problem in the end? If it was something stupid don't worry about admitting it - we've all been there! :)
Trunker
The problem was, keep Gareth away, was that I was trying to programe the chase the Zero88 way by bringing the fader up instead of using the 'bump' buttons. I would have thought that this wouldn't have mattered. It doesn't on the Strand 200 which took over from the MX.
Just Some Bloke
Aha, easy mistake to make if you're not one for reading the manual! The MX is a great little desk - very quick and easy to use when you get the hang of it - and I was sad when they discontinued it. Hey ho, times change and all that... :)
