nothingatall666
Evening all, my friend has just brought a few speakers from the HK premium pr:O series: pr:O 12's (800W program @8ohms)pr:O 18s's (1200W program @4ohms) we intend to use these in a stack with my pr:O 12's like:121218per side. The only problem is that for 4 of these speakers we have no amp('s)I currently run my 12's using the T.amp 2400. (which is lovely though maybe on the small side; 650W @8ohms)the Tamp 2400 seems perfect for the bass as it 1200W @4ohms and the pr:O 18's are 1000W @4ohms program, agree? The problem is (as it is usually) he's on a budget. (urr ?£600?) Any suggestions for the 12's or comments about the whole thing? Thank-you ____edit:sorry about the really dodgey spelling in the title. 'twas due to lack of concentration to detail
Rob_Beech
The TA2400 are fine. No point spending hundreds of pounds on bigger amps for a difference in volume you won't hear. Put the 2nd pair of tops in shunt with the first running them at 4ohms, 600watts per box, get a second 2400 for the subs. You'll want an active crossover, DCX2496 is an industry standard as much as it makes people squirm to use industry standard and Behringer in the same sentence. My only real question is why stacks like that. 2 poles per side and get all the tops at the correct height, utlizing the ability to get boxes higher (this is a good thing) and using the duo tilt thingy on the boxes (another good thing). Be advised that 1 sub will not keep uip with 2 tops SPL wise. the other way around would be more suitable however you have a coverage advantage with 2 tops, just don't be afraid to use 2 where you do not need the coverage. Less is More. Rob
timtheenchanteruk
the T.Amps really are good for their money, I have 4 of the smaller T600s, as I dont have a need for anything bigger and I am really impressed
MarkPAman
Too cryptic for me…........... duo tilt thingy on the boxes (another good thing). What's one of them Rob? :D
nothingatall666
.......... duo tilt thingy on the boxes (another good thing). What's one of them Rob? Making the most of sonic energyDuoTilt™, MonoTilt™ and MicroTilt™ pole mounts allow sound energy to be utilised more efficiently. DuoTilt™ offers angles of 7.5° and 15°, and MonoTilt™ and MicroTilt™ an angle of 10°, to better aim mid/high-range cabinets directly at the audience. Interfering ceiling reflections are substantially decreased; the soundscape is clearer, tighter, and more focused. or was there sarcasm there which I didn't pick up :** laughs out loud **: thanks rob, thats the clarification I needed from a sound guru. interesting that you advise to use the 12's 'side by side' rather than stacked I guess I have only thought about stacking because thats only what I've seen. the ability to delay the speakers will also be very useful for the horrible school hall speech jobs. (Just about to order a DCX2496) I intend to (in the distant future) get 2 more 18's. thanks all for responses so far :D
MarkPAman
or was there sarcasm there which I didn't pick up :DNo sarcasm. I didn't know what it was (though my guess was pretty close) & did not help, at least not on the first page. Now I know. Thanks :** laughs out loud **:
