Light Factory (sound FX problem)

howdy, I'm new to light factory. but I'm running a show (lx and sx) off it. some of my sfx need to run quietly under others that are running loud (ie, ambient noise up. then phone rings, ambient noise fades to 20% while phone stays loud). I've got them on seperate show runners, but I'm wondering if its possible to assign that show runner a submaster, so I can control its volume - or if there's an easy solution I'm not aware of, I tried to find an existing thread, but no luck.

Thanks

Yes, you can use a submaster to override the volume of a sfx in LightFactory. To do this you do need to run the effect in a standard fx runner rather than having it directly linked to the cue.

1. assign the effect to an fx runner.

2. assign a shortcut and a submaster to the fx runner.

3. Use the shortcut in the cue to start and stop the media fx when you want it (A cue can fire as many shortcuts as you want).

4. When the fx is running the submaster will override the volume.

Is this Lightfactory as in www.lifact.com , created by Dream Solutions, marketed by Enttec and Zero88 ?

when I execute the shortcut, the submaster doesn't seem to override the initial volume. that is, it blares out at full volume even if the submaster is at 10%, when I click on the submaster once the track is playing though, the volume decreases. (I'm using V. 1.4.1.29 by the way) any suggestions?

also, is there a way to execute the shortcut without clicking on the image in the short cut menu or typing "sc 1" in the command interface? I know I'm expressing my ignorance here, but this is the first show I've worked with a laptop for...

Thanks

Chris

There is a master setting for the volume that will determine the initial volume. You will find this on the media tab of the system properties.

You can trigger the shortcut in the cue list if you want. You will see a shortcut column in the cue list editor.
