Helyer Posted May 21, 2004 Posted May 21, 2004 does anybody know if there is a place online where I can download a trouble shooting list for Pani Followspots (HMV 1200W) ? Also any ideas how much and where to find transfomers for super trouper PSU's? Or is it cheaper to buy a whole new PSU? Any information gratefully received.
Mush Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 For general discharge mechanics: http://members.misty.com/don/dschlamp.html Might find some help as well at : http://www.lightnetwork.com HTH
Ian Ferguson Posted May 24, 2004 Posted May 24, 2004 We keep spares for both Pani and Strong followspots so may be able to help you.
Helyer Posted May 24, 2004 Author Posted May 24, 2004 With the Pani spot, there was power going throught the ballast but it isn't firing up, It's probaly something really obvious but I can't think of it. With the Trouper PSU it is buzzing loudly, turns out the transformer is rusted, causing air to get in and making the noise. (well thats the theory). So desperatley need new transformer. Everybody has decided they want troupers on the job, So ideally it needs to be fixed by Monday
Martin Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Could be any number of things, but a good starting point is to check for any loose connections in the ballast, cable and lamp house. Does it make any noise when you try to strike the lamp or does it appear dead? Getting into the lamp house is not obvious, but it's easy when you've worked it out. After removing the lamp, remove two screws on the top at the back and two screws on the front bottom. The black housing should then lift away from the blue casing. Do check that the rubber mounts for the transformer haven't perished. Having recently serviced two, I had to replace both sets. I think this was mainly due to the heat the tx produces. Also you may want to make an insulating cover for the exposed tx terminals as they are very close to the casing (10mm or less). If the tx has become loose it may have melted the switches and or wiring. I don't have any literature on them but it may be worth contacting Pani. Just don't buy spares direct. For example a replacement lamp cable (Ignitor cable) I was quoted 101 euros each. You need two for each spot. Thats £70 for 1 foot of cable :) It's cheaper to buy a whole reel from RS!
