Ynot
Hi, and welcome to the Blue Room. To answer your question, why NOT contact Martin?Doing so won't necessarily cost you extra cash, but in the long run many error codes are there to tell you what is wrong with a piece of kit. If something's not really user-mendable, then it may HAVE to go to a Martin experienced engineer to be fixed - but they'll be able to advise. It doesn't HAVE to be Martin themselves, however - there are many Martin trained technicians about - try talking to one or two local hire companies, who may well have guys on their books with the know-how. AndyJones
A location in your profile would help Local techs get in touch with you to maybe give you a hand?
maeterlinck
Hi Dan, welcome to the Blue Room, Firstly, I'll echo what Ynot said - contacting Martin doesn't mean that you will learn any less. They're loverly people and will help you where they can - but don't expect them to talk you though basic fault finding step by step. In fact talking to them is somewhat similar to posting here asking for help. With regard to your problems, given both units have apparently working lamps in them it sounds more like sensor errors rather than physical. If you try swapping the light and temp sensors on the lights with known working ones, even from the other lamp one at a time, this will show you if the part is at fault. With the L1ER also check that the unit is clean inside - clubs are terrible for dirty/dusty fixtures. PS: If you want to learn and have some spare cash have a look at either Martin or Whitelight - both run courses for indroduction to servicing moving lights. Kevin@Wicked
HTER - L1ER - So if the lamp strikes up, it rules out the ignitor, mains rely, and connections to the lamp. I had a Mac 2000 that did a similar thing. Change all of the termal switches (surface & air ones) - this may also solve your HTER issue with the other unit as these obviously trigger if the unit gets too hot (or thing it does if they get stuck open). Other things to check is the wiring between the ignitor and lamp holder and also check for corrosion on the lamp holder.
