Firmware updates

Gazlights

Helloo!

I've just dug out four martin Mania SCX500 fixtures hidden away in a dusty back room, we also have six Mac 250 Kryptons and four Mac 250 washlights.....my question is about firmware updates....

from reading the manual it seems there are just two ways to update software, using a martim MP2 uploader or a DABS inteerface device....I'm guessing the latter is the cheapest option...

Is it worth buying one? are firmware updates released that often? what software do you need to use with the DABS interface?

Any advice would be helpfull!

Normally the fixes are quite minor.

There have been none for the Krypton's as yet. The second release for the 250 wash has potentially useful improvements, but is quite old and so you may well already have it (or later). The Mania update also looks reasonably useful but, again, it is very old now and chances are you have it.

Check and cross-reference your current versions here: http://www.martin.com/downloads/

There have been a number of updates for the MAC 250 Kryptons, we are currently at version 1.8.0, the initial release was 1.0.0. We would always reccommend updating the software to the fixtures as it can often improve the reliability of the fixture. You can also update software with the Martin Universal USB DMX box that is used to output from Lightjockey. Your are correct though the DABS1 is the cheapest way of owning a software uploader. You could try talking to your local Martin Dealer, they should have a means to upload software and may do it for you for less than the cost of a DABS1.
