Vince
Hi All, Without wishing to appear like a circling vulture, does anyone have any idea what is going to happen to the ASS install at the Astoria once it's doors close for the last time in a few days? I know SSE seem to resell ASS enclosures, so maybe it will find it's way back to them. As a staunch ASS supporter, I would like to think the kit will find a new, caring home and not end up gathering dust somewhere. Cheers, Vince

The old Crosse & Blackwell pickle factory with its odd corridors, leaking roof and load-in bay about 15 ft about street level. I spent too many a day and night on its sticky floors and wandering around its warren like subterranean levels. Too many tales for posting...... As for the ASS it was put in by Tarsin (now part of SSE) on a contract hire basis (if I remember correctly but it is a long time back) and I would imagine that they will either try to seel it or find another rental venue for it - given its size and the lack of such sized venues about then the sell off option is probably most likely. Try SSE's London number And lets all have 1 minutes silence this Wednesday/Thursday when the last live and club nights end the era of possibly the best centrally located venue in London. It may have been a s**thole in many way, the get-in may have been a PIA but the atmosphere for both working and playing in will be sorely missed. I shall wipe a tear from my eye and think fondly of the old girl FF
Vince
Sadly I became a "Soundguy" too late in life to experience such delights. Maybe next time round...... By co-incidence I'll be seeing Mr. Rossell in the next couple of days, so I will ensure we raise a glass to toast the passing of an institution. I'm sure he will feel the sense of loss as acutely as anyone.
