Le Maitre g300 linking/slaving issues

I have 2 g300's, one recieving DMX daisy-chained to another. The one that is the slave will run for a few seconds then it stops. If I pull the slave cable out and put it back it will work again for another few seconds and do the same thing. Any ideas?

All I can tell you is how it should work, on the unit with the DMX remote, make sure the send timer is switched off (you might want to pop ot the switch to verify that it is the right way round too!!)

On the slave, make sure the flow accept and smoke accept are both on

you need to use quality screened data cable to link the 2 machines

I think you might be a bit confused about what you're trying to do - the wording of your question is a bit ambiguous, how are you linking the two machines?

It is possible to link one G300 to another using their own data protocol, with the 'slave' set to accept smoke and flow commands from the 'master'. But you said that you're linking them via DMX, with the data going into the first unit and then daisychaining into the second - in which case, you just set all the switches the same on both machines and adjust the DMX addresses accordingly so that the machines either copy each other (addresses set the same) or can be controlled individually (addresses differ).

One unit recieves DMX the second is slaved via g300 protocol.

Perhaps because he only has one DMX Remote.

If the switches are correct and you are using the correct data cable, this should work, if it still is not working, I would suggest callinf Seve Lloyd at LM and he will be able to talk you through it.

As I mentioned above, check that the cables are soldered to the switches on the back panel and that they are round the right way by easily prying then out with a small screwdriver, there shold be enough slack in the wire to allow you to do this easily.

Since that made no sense I checked the manual. There is no DMX, just dedicated remote and linking facilities. Thus the confusion.

The G300 is (or was) available with an optional DMX remote, so presumably can be controlled from any DMX source.

Mine hasn't got the DMX remote and doesn't accept DMX. I don't have a manual for it, but maybe they printed a different one for each model?

Let's call the one that's controlled by DMX "Master"; to control the "Slave" first you must have the correct linking cable; to make the slave do the same as master, the "SMOKE" and "FLOW" switches are set to "SEND" on the master, and "ACCEPT" on the slave. If you need any other configuration, I respectfully suggest you give me a call at Le Maitre.

For clarity:

The DMX input is a external box that plugs into the machine. One machine can control several others via a slave/master system.

The master can be controlled locally, remotely or via DMX.

You could also put DMX boxes on all of them and simply DMX link them.
