makarunga
I recently purchased Crest Audio lq15 speakers but unfortunately on my first gig, some disgrantled fellow poured a soft drink into one of the tweeters (horn) and now it is sounding terrible.Does anyone know any remedies I could use?cheers Mike
Sound In Gloucestershire
Gin goes with Soda well.... ...no but seriously, it doesnt sound like good news, sorry by the way, why did the guy pour his drink ?
sleah
You could try just washing it out with cold water, then letting dry for 2 days in a warm place, or strip it down and do the same.....Otherwise if it has distorted the driver then it will have to be a new diaphram or whole tweeter B-) I tend to feel it will be latter Out of curiosity, how did he get the soda down the tweeter? ;)
TallMike
Worst it'll be is a new diaphragm. Wait for it to dry off, and it'll probably be OK as they're strong things! If you really get no decent response after this, PM me and I'll tell you how to inspect it. Mike
Arran
Out of curiosity, how did he get the soda down the tweeter? ;) Stranger things have happened; I once emptied a 1/4 lb (I weighed it) of tea leaves out of a wedge after an Asian concert. But did it make a good cuppa? :D I was thinking not so much of the strangeness... but how did it physically happen. I would expect it to poor down the front of the cab before it would travel up the slope of a tweeter B-)

I would expect it to poor down the front of the cab before it would travel up the slope of a tweeter :) I would guess that it was being used as a monitor. One venue I have been to has some old lighting gel over the mouth of the horns to stop drinks going down to the driver. It did not seem to affect the sound too badly when I was onstage, not sure if they have to EQ in a bit more HF to cut through but I dont think it would need much if any
