cknapper
Hi all, I'm using a LS9-16 for the first time in a few weeks and was just wondering if I take my Ultra gain ADA8000 with me can I connect this to the world clock and have another 8ways with EQ Comp Gate.......or will this just be gain and fader control as I need a extra card to do DSP. If not would I still have control of fader. Do I just use a normal BNC or does this have to be a special one, Sorry I use ADAT with this as the moment. Thanking you in advance Carl. Bobbsy
I think you have a slightly wrong idea about the functions of Word Clock and/or the ADA8000. The ADA8000 contains no DSP at all. It's simply an input/output device that converts analogue signals to/from ADAT. All the DSP is inside the LS9. Yes, you do need to consider word clock but this is a means to ensure that the digital signals in the LS9 and ADA8000 are synchronised. This can be achieved either by connecting the LS9 and ADA8000 with a BNC coax cable or via the ADAT signal on a Toslink fibre. My preferred method is to use the mixer as the master and the ADA8000 as slave via the BNC word clock in/outs but there are various other ways that will work as well. Note that the LS9 does NOT come with ADAT connection as standard--you have to install an MY8AT or MY16AT card in the expansion slot on the back of the mixer. Once you've done this, you go to the routing menu and patch Slot 1-1 through Slot 1-8 to whatever faders you want to use. (The default setup puts the slot inputs on channels 17-24 for an MY8AT and 17-32 for the MY16AT so if these are satisfactory you needn't change anything.) Inputs 1-32 on the LS9 have all the same controls--fader, EQ, comp, gate, etc etc. Hope this helps, Bob
