Lady Windermere's Fan

Hi,

I've recently joined a new small theatre company who are putting on a production of Oscar Wildes Lady Windermere's Fan set in the 1890's. The main prop I'm having a little trouble with at the moment is a working soda syphon. Does anyone have any ideas of where I would be able to get one or replicate one that would be used on stage?

Many thanks,

Tom

PLEASE Tom .... fill in your location on your profile!

I can give you numbers to all the London prop hire companies that might have one ... but that is no good if you are in the far north of Scotland or Australia!!!

Sorry about that! - updated it now! I'm in Nottingham, though I will be going down to London in a few weeks so if you did have any London based info/companies I can look into it.

Many thanks!

In the days when pubs used to have these things - before the advent of the dreadful "one hole does the lot" tap - we used to borrow them from the theatre's local. Of course they came with a plastic top, but a few bits of silvery sellotape used to give it that suitably old, chromium-plated look. You may find that a local soft drinks supplier may still have access to them.
