Fixing Mac 300 to Stand/Vertical Truss

I know similar things have been covered here before buti seem unable to find the answers I'm after. They mainly seem to discuss the base and geting 40kg plus metal sheets to sit in the base.

I have a pair of Mac 300s which I use in a few venues. One of the venues has an old manual lighting rig where I seem to find myself spending more time getting the lights patched in as the sockets are paired rather than pairing by pluging to sockets into one channel on the dimmer and some of the sockets don't work and I dont know if its the cables or lighting desk but some of the faders dont seem to work but thats another problem that im trying to get sorted.

What I was thinking was using my mac 300s wash the stage in the various colours they want which will save setting up time (I know its more time programing but I can do that at home in magicq). The lighting bars on are manual winches which im sure have a 50kg limit but I wont be able to check as im not at that site very often so I cant hang a pair of macs off the bar along with a few generics. We have some t-bar stands, I was wondering if it is possible to get some kind of plate/adapter to go on the stand instead of the horizontal bar that the mac could be fixed to, ive not seen any mention of this anywhere some im guessing its not possible/adviseable. The other option I can see is to use some truss which a large weight on the bottom, my question on this would be where do I get the plates the mac would fix to, are they something you can buy off the shelf or do I need to go to a company to make them, if so where would be a good place for me to look.

I hope that all makes sense and I havent gone over too much what has been covered before but my searching skills dont seem to be very good on this subject

Thanks

Kevin

The Martin Website's a good place to look.

I think you want a Half Coupler Clamp which is part number 91602005 from Martin, which I got from the specs.

Hope this helps!

Depending on what stands you have, its probably just as simple as getting a pair of TV spigot's to M10 or M12 >> Link. Then stick each one on the hanging plate of your macs (the thing your hook clamps are bolted to), clip it all together, poke the spigot into the receptacle on top of your stand (where you drop your Tbars in). Job done!

Let us know what stands you have and tell us/describe how you connect your Tbars to the stands and that'll enable us to give you a definite answer on a solution.

p.s. Don't bother buying martins special half couplers, any brand of half coupler will do, Martin's one's aren't particularly special or the only ones that'll work. Think you'll find you'll save yourself a fair bit of money :)

I'll have to check the stands when im next where they are, looking on the doughty site the like the T51600: Neutron stand with T43102: 4 Lantern Tee Bar Chrome that sits on top. I was thinking about securing a spigot to the hanging plate but wasnt sure how stable that would be.

Perfectly fine if its a little Mac300 your putting on there..

If you find your stands dont accept spigots and are more like powerdrive stands that just terminate as the open end of a tube, there's loads of adaptors to either make them accept spigots or, that you can bolt onto the hanging plate.. Something like the 'Tee Bar Fixing' on Doughty's website for instance.

I've had a look and they are powerdrive stands, I think I'll try the Tee bar fixing and see how steady they are as I have 4 of them, I think I have a spigot adaptor and spigot laying around somewhere so I can also try that and just order more if I dont think the tee bar fixings are good enough.
