Just Some Bloke Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 OK, so we know that most people on these boards are lighting specialists and no-one is King of Props. But most theatre technicians do more than one thing. Now is your chance to say what else you do. Unfortunately the way the polls are set up allows you only to make one choice, so I've put in a choice that says "I do everything!". Me? I picked lighting in the first poll as I now work as a freelance LD, as well as a venue Production Manager, but I got into the business doing sound so I'd probably pick that as my secondary. How about you?
Pete McCrea Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Not a theatre Tech but I do (in order of most work of Late):1) Sound Engineer2) Video Editor/Camera Man3) Rigger4) LD5) Crewingand this should probably be at the top, as I should be revising....6) Civil Engineering
benweblight Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 hey, I specialise in sound but ill have a go at everything, I know basics of all technicals, I could probably have a go at stage meangament/set/props if I had to
Lamplighter Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Everything is a little bold, perhaps most things would be more accurate
dominicgross Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Im a sound engineer in training (studio engineering) Before I joined the dark side I was mostly a lampy / SM.
deranged-angel Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 I have voted for I do everything although at the moment it's I'll do ANYthing! job hunting is not as fun as I thought it would be... Emxxx
peternewman Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 at the moment it's I'll do ANYthing! All together now: :o I'd do anything,For you, dear, anything,For you mean ev'rything to me.I know thatI'd go anywhere,For your smile, anywhere,For your smile ev'rywhere I'd see. Good luck in the job hunting. Oh, by the way I voted for "I do everything!" because I seem to do quite a bit. I've done lighting, sound, set even a bit of sewing, painting and props but narrowly avoided stage crew. :( PN
vinny baby Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 I Majour in lighting design, and engineering. I tend to stick at one thing, so that I can concentrate all my efforts in that subject. Although, I do have a backup plan, if LD work stoped, and the money stoped flowing. I am also a graphic designer. vince
Stu Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 Altho I'm a Lampie at heart, and will do my very best to keep to only this. However, if it came to it that I had to have a week off, and was given the choice to work in another department (or not work at all!), I'd have to choose Stage. I'm not fantastic at it, but I can get by. Just don't enjoy it much Stu
P. Funk Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 well I'm just crap at everything, so it doesnt make much difference as to what I attempt :(
Ike Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 I have done prety much everything with the exceptions of wardrobe and props, I am not a fan of stage management.
themadhippy Posted May 19, 2004 Posted May 19, 2004 you name it I'll break it :( specalist subject hum scum ,but as with alot of other venues you tend to do everything, alough lighting comes top of the list,if I ever get bored I could fall back on my previous carea, but my phobia of building sites might not help me being a sparky
