herd
I know this probably is a repost but all the topics I found didn't answer my questions. : ( So I'm in search of some software that I can preprogram lighting shows with. Since most of the artists use backtracks and even all of the so called impro bits are rehearsed beforehand, it would be nice. I guess for me the best way would be that when I get the track and it opens as it would in an audio editor (soundwave-view) and while listening, I just insert markers and afterwards compile different movements / effects and arrange them to the markers. Is such a thing even possible? I know of some software made by UVA that I was told is able to do that, but are there any alternatives? So basically it would be linking visual effects straight onto the backtrack. edit: dang, the long title messed it up a bit. 'twas supposed to be "computer-based DMX-lighting controller software to program "to beat" with?" Sorry, guys and gals. : )
smalljoshua
Jands Vista has a Timeline feature. Many other lighting controllers have Midi Time Code Implementations that could be interfaced with some form of sound playback system that is capable of generating time code. You would then add the time code markers on the Lighting Controller and play the relevant cues with them. Josh
Helen-Marie
www.showmagic.com It doesnt open the audio into a wave format but you import your track and drag it into a timed sequence, press "rec" then play and tap the space bar whilst the song is playing and Showmagic inserts time markers, then you drag and drop the required lighting scenes in when you've finished tapping. You can edit the times and add more afterwards or delete them etc. SL24 is free to download with no limitations and no dongle needed, you'll just need a USB - DMX device. ;)
Congo
I would also second the Jannds vista suggestion. as you can import an mp3 file into the time line, then while you are playing the clip you can drop in markers, when you are finished these markers can then be converted into cue points.all visable on a time line so that as you can hear and see as you programme, all you need to do when you have finished is make all the cues follow ons then hit play at the right time Mark
