cfmjohn Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Hi All, I've got a Panasonic MX12 vision mixer but the reverse button for the Luma Key has been broken. The little button cap has popped right into the unit and it can move/rotate freely. Im not sure if its come off its mount or if the board/support for the button has snapped. I would like to get it fixed as its annoying me being broken. I don't want to open it up without knowing what to expect (cables that might snap/stuff that can fall out) so if there's anyone out there who has ever opened up an MX12 or any other panasonic mixer or even better has a service manual (PDF or Paper) I would be very grateful. John
peternewman Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Well I had an old WJ AVE-5 apart earlier in the year (one of the low end consumer ones from Panasonic). It was all on a single board, I'm not sure if I actually separated the board from the front panel or not, I think I might have just taken the back off, seen it was a single board and decided not to bother for the moment. I certainly don't remember my one being too challenging, unlike all the stuff that has those silly plastic catches round the edge, which just seem to result in me roughing up the join and often snapping one if I'm unlucky. I was trying to add a cut button in parallel with the crossfader (it really is, rather than a T-bar on that one :P) if you're curious. Probably not actually too helpful in the grand scheme of things. The source buttons and T-bar look quite similar to the newer MX-70 if that helps at all, the other ones very much less so.
Pete McCrea Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 I had our Mx50 open to replace the fan. After undoing the screws round the edge the top then just hinges open and all cables are held in place with the necessary flex to permit easy opening. I doubt you'd do any damage if your carefull.
cfmjohn Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Thanks for the replies, its with a friend at the moment but I'll open it up soon and get let you know how I get on. I dont remember it having hinges to open it but hopefully its an easy open. @ PeterNewman As it happens I've got an AVE-5 at home and I know what you mean about the crossfader, biggest PITA I've ever had the misfortune of mixing on. THe crossfade cap on mine's a bit loose and keeps falling off. One of those things that is an easy fix, just never seem to get round to it. John
