niclights Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 As I said before SLI does require application support. Drivers are also a nightmare. Just don't bother with it. 8800GTS with E6600 dual core on ASUS works very well here. GTX will be superb if fits without hitting drive bays.I bought an SLI mb but quickly realised was unnecessary. Overclock at 3gz is stable but needs good heatsink and can be tricky to get the all important RAM timings correct.
Nick LX Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 The P5K-E supports ATi crossfire. The new X58 chipsets support SLi and Crossfire. Antec are in the same league as Thermaltake. Very good as well. Overclocking voids the warranty. So if it does go wrong then you can be in trouble, plus these older versions of Asus motherboards don't really support it. Go further up X48/58 chipset and they have dedicated overclocking. My 8800 Ultra wouldn't fit in my Soprano. Got a Coolermaster Cosmo S(port). So big! It may be worth upgrading just the GPU at the moment, because the new i7 core has just come out, so it would be a waste of money upgrading the motherboard/CPU.
