Well we Scots were thinking that if it accurately emulates sunlight, we'll chip in for one and start a new religion.

100kW is 435A at 230V (single phase, assuming unity power factor)

I'm assuling it has to be single phase as it's a single lamp.

Thats a very large single phase load.

Unfortunately I can't find any confirmation of the votage it runs off.

It's a dimmable lamp but does anyone have a dimmer capable of 435A?

More details here. The lamp is run off a DC source, and according to their data the 100kW version draws 265 Amps from a 3 phase 480V supply. You'll need to adjust for the US data...

The site says it has built in DMX, so I'm assuming it will handle the dimming it's self.

.. I want one!

I remember reading about the softsuns in LSI at the recent St Pancras station launch, a quick search on LSI online shows this. They (PRG) used 2 x 100Kw fixtures and 3 x 50Kw fixtures (Along with a lot of other "Power hungry" fixtures!).

If I remember correctly from the LSI printed article Power Logistics did the temporary power, which as you can imagine would have been quite sizable!

Dan

EDIT: After a quick look on power log's website, I was correct they did do the power. Providing 4 x 455Kva Twinpacks, 2 x 300Kva Twinpacks, 2 x 250Kva Twinpacks and 1 x 200Kva Generator! Quite a generator farm!
