iAudio Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Hi Folks, I'm thinking of purchasing OHM TRS 212's and the sub's 218'sWould really appreciate any feedback from users who have used the cabs. Many thanks Hi there,I run a Pa company based in Cheshire. All our hire stock are OHM Products. We have the 212 and 218 and they are a fantastic combination. The 218 punches out about 136Db and really moves the air. The 212 is a very clear and sweet sounding box. They also stack together very well and transport dolly's are also available. If you are interested I can quote you up on a system and arrange a demo at the OHM factory.Cheers Ben
mervaka Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I have a set. they sound great, especially for playback. my only gripe is that when a 212 is stood on a 218, the horn isnt quite above head height. I'm thinking of making risers for the tops to remedy this though.
pisquee Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Since the 218, Ohm have more recently brought out a 118 sub - I would recommend buying 2 of these for every one of the 218 you planned on buying - they are just more versatile (and easier to transport.) I think they have expanded the options for top speakers too... All in all a great sounding range of boxes for the money.
Pete McCrea Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 We don't use them, but Simon at AudioMSG runs Ohm boxes, and always seems to get a great sound out of them. Might be worth getting in touch.
ChrisBogg Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hi There We have a large stock of Ohm speakers in our hire stock. The TRS range from Ohm is a good sounding system for playback and live work. Its well priced and quite well known as a leader in its market. Ohm are good old British speaker manufacturer and are always very helpful. I must say at this stage that my company, dBS Solutions is an Ohm dealer, however if you would like to hear any of the range including some of the newer TRS 112H mid hi boxes or the new 118 or 118h subs please PM me. The original TRS218 and 212 boxes where in our hire stock for some years and served us well (we still have used boxes some for sale if you want some PM me). They work well in stacks of 2 or 3 per side and are good ground stacked or flown. What sort of work are you wanting them for? Chris dBS Solutions
KevinE Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Yep the TRS is a good system and not too heavy for touring..unlike their BR brothers!
rooftop Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 We have a TRS system approx 8 years old, 4x TRS212 and 4x TRS218. Perhaps it's my hearing, but conversely to the majority here, I find the 212s sound raspy/harsh (in particular, spoken word sounds too harsh)at anything approaching concert levels (600 seater). That is with 2 each side, sat upon 2 218s each side. Obviously in terms of loudness, this set up rocks a 600 seat venue with plenty of headroom spare. This criticism may not be valid for new TRS212s, as I say, ours are 8 years old.
ChrisBogg Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Ohm Have changed the HF drivers from the earlier models. as far as I can remember the Mark 1 units had a B&C driver in and the mark 2 and 3 units had BMS drivers. Or was that the other way round! Well anyhow the later boxes and a lot less harsh in the near field than their older brothers. Chris
