Simon Lewis Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Anyone recommend a good book covering the principles of the types of audio measurement you would do using SMAART or similar software? Maths not a problem. I can recommend the upcoming Smaart training seminar (February 13-14). Jamie Anderson is an ex Siasoft / EAW employee, and has run Smaart training sessions for some years now. Details can be found here. Book wise - any thing on Fourier Analysis may well be useful, but for good pragmatic advice, Bob McCarthy's book is well worth getting. It doesn't focus on Smaart (as it leans towards Meyer and SIM) but it describes techniques well. There are some good Smaart resources on the EAW site. Meyer also run seminars on sound system design and SIM, which are pretty in depth and have good things said about them. There a week long seminar starting on the 19th Jan in York . Most of what you need to know is either: a) dual channel FFT (using one channel as measurement, the other as reference signal) and carrying out a transfer function; b) FFT of impulse response or c) Maximum Length Sequence.
