Hi, I am using adobe Audition 3.0

Is it possible to record a stereo track in edit view, from two separate inputs on my soundcard,..

I have an input A and a B and want to use them as a stereo recording..

Again, based on Audition 1. Go to "Options" and "Device Properties". This is where I would expect you to change settings to enable a stereo source. Or, you may need to set a stereo waveform when you hit "Record".

I have found that when I record stereo Audition pairs to inputs next to each other. I have an Audiofire 12 which has 12 inputs so in stero it will pair inputs 1+2, 3+4 etc and ive not found a way of stopping this. Although ive never needed to. If I do record in stereo I make sure the stereo inputs are in a pair as audition sets.

Yes, and it shows two tracks like stereo, bu they are EXCATLY the same

This is a multitrack recording, so why not do it in multitrack view then edit them individually. alternatvely, if you must do it in EDIT view, then can you live with panning one hard left one hard right and having them come into the software on one input but effectively as mono sources? this is far from ideal but would give you effectively one stereo recording.

the reason they are exactly the same is you are recording in stereo, and seeing left and right of same track!!!

honestly, use multitrack its so much easier.

This sounds to me like a sound card issue rather than audition. If I'm right, you need to open the "software mixer" (either the Windows mixer or the one that came specifically with your sound card) and pan input A hard left and B hard right. In edit view you can either get a mono track or a single stereo track and, in the case of stereo, Audition depends on your input to handle the routing/panning.

I do tend to agree with the advice to do your recording in Multitrack view though and keep your input A and B in discrete mono tracks....much easier to work with that way and (in Audition 3) you can record direct to disk rather than via a temp file, eliminating the need for a "save" at the end of each recording.
