James Posted May 15, 2004 Posted May 15, 2004 Aaah, Sorry I was being pedantic, CBBC on 1 or 2 probably does come from studio 9, It's one of the tiny ones under the BBC restaurant which does lead onto the Blue Peter Garden (Where the outside bits are shot for CBBC1/2) James

benweblight Posted May 16, 2004 Posted May 16, 2004 maybe, tv lightings not for me, too bright when your lighting for a camera IMHO
andystone Posted May 16, 2004 Posted May 16, 2004 To answer the initial question, the 'tubes' referred to are Pulsar ChromaStrips, basically perspex tubes with LED inside. The way TOTP works at the moment is they change LD every 4 weeks and he can choose whatever luminaires, desk and operator that he wants, subject to budget of course. As far as the control side is concerned (the area I can talk most about), all the LED stuff is programmed from a Compulite SparkTOP and the main moving light rig from a Compulite Vector, all the generics are done from the studio Galaxy console - 3 operators. As confirmed in previous posts, all the intelligent lighting and control is hired in from RML.

I thought they were free but obviously got that verry wrong.
the kid Posted May 17, 2004 Author Posted May 17, 2004 I thought they were free but obviously got that verry wrong. No in genneral the free things are the tickets to shows you write to the BBC and say when you would like them and for what show.
mac500 Posted May 17, 2004 Posted May 17, 2004 When I had my work experience in the BBC 4 years ago it was so cool! I was on a different show each day. Day 1: Blue Peter, LD: Martin Kempton (The studio is tiny they use it looks wide because of the lenses used on the camera's) Day 2: Later With Jools Holland! LD: James Campbell(very cool!) Loads of MAC 500's, VL-5's, GS-3's etc. Day 3: The stand up show: LD: Dave Gibson. Also very cool and a laugh as well. MiniMacs etc Day 4:Watchdog :( ** laughs out loud ** with Ann Robinson! LD: James Campbell again. LD's hate working on Watchdog apparently because she wastes so much time rewriting the script hehe. and Finally Day 5: Live and Kicking Setup LD: Rod Litherland. Loads of MAC 250's, CP Stagecolour300's a few Coemar CF-7's etc. SO all in all it was a really cool week!
