alphaleader
Does anyone here have any suggestions on how to make an elephant's trunk? The idea is that it will come in from the wings, attached to a pole or something, to simulate a whole elephant without the audience actually seeing a full elephant! Any thoughts very welcome, A. Gerry
There are various ways. Carve it out of polystyrene foam. Make a wire former, cover with chicken wire, cover with paper mache. Same as above but use fibreglass cloth/ matting and resin.Just 3 ideas to get you started. CheersGerry

Andrew C
My first, and admittedly way off topic thought, was to get a man elephant and a lady elephant and.... More helpfully, could you do something with the hose from an extract fan (sometimes known as an elephants trunk). A splodge of gray paint and some cloth to make the tip and you'd be well on your way. techymatt
like Gerry said wore frame and cover it in mod rock Will do the job if you don't want it to move at all and be static Matt
w/robe
Pipe lagging covered in wadding and then a grey jersey 'sock'.You can then move the trunk up and down by shoving a length of thin wood/pipe/ up it.

andy_s
I assume the pink tights are necessary because (in the script) drink had been taken....?
alphaleader
Strangely enough, no. It just worked surprisingly well as it was supposed to be a purple/pink elephant (for a pantomime). No drink involved!S.
