Leggy Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Hi all,I'm using a house Pearl 2004 for a show tonight, and for some reason it won't fade pallettes in takeover mode.I'm doing the same thing I always do when forced to use an avo, I select fixtures, then hit "5" for example, then a position pallette, and rather than the fixtures fading to the position in 5 secs nothing happens. If I don't select a time but just select the pallette then the fixtures go to the position just fine, but I cannot make them fade.Hope that made sense, any ideas anyone? Leggy.
niclights Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I've seen this question/problem before. Just can't remember what the solution might have been. The usual reason for palettes not fading is that the attributes are set to instant, rather than fading. But this seems unlikely for positional. Still, worth a shot: patch/patch utils/set instant/fade.select attribute bank.toggle pan/tilt instant/fade by fixture handle add/swop buttons. You need VDU to see state, but if not then grey is tilt and pan is swop. Just be careful to press once and see if it works. If not go back to this menu and set back. Another distant possibility is to hit 'kill timed palettes' (or something similar) in the palette/options menu. Otherwise I'm not sure. Try a soft reset perhaps?! Does it happen with all fixtures/attributes?
Leggy Posted December 12, 2008 Author Posted December 12, 2008 Should have known you'd pop up Nic!Thanks for the ideas, but doesn't seem to help. The problem occurs with all fixture in all pallettes.Tried a hard reset, and a soft reset.Called Avo but no idea there.Bugger! I really need these timed moves for tonight. Wish I had my Hog :( !! Leggy.
niclights Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Wish I had a better answer. I can try and find the thread. A random idea might be to try quick palettes (enable in user settings) and then recall without selecting fixtures, or, if that's what you were doing, try by selecting fixtures. But I'm doubtful! Alternatively I wonder if you could sacrifice a playback and use a cue stack (unlinked chase) to achieve this instead? Or does the fade not work even on a playback /edit: found the thread: http://www.blue-room.org.uk/index.php?showtopic=30940 There was no solution posted unfortunately. These are the only two occasions I've ever heard of it. I can only think the console knows you don't like it!
Leggy Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 I had the same thought about the cue stack, that's what I've ended up doing.Just tried quick palettes, no luck there either.Oh well, thanks for the advice mate, I guess I'll just have to manage with it. I may have said this before, but I really miss my Hog!!! Leggy. edit - tried cuddling the desk but no luck! A concurrent post has been automatically merged from this point on. For the record, Avo say it is a bug in the (out of date) software version (Pearl 2004 v1.1) the house were using, and it was fixed in 1.2.The puzzling thing was that the house guy said he uses that function all the time and has never had a problem with it before, but something we did today kicked the bug into action.A good example why you should always have the most up to date software installed on any console. Leggy.
AndyJones Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Hello All, I was the OP in the original thread. When I played with the desk in the warehouse the day after I was having issues, I found that the issue seemed to be triggered by a combination of using quick palettes and also using a mixture of modes. I.E modes 1 and 2. I can't really narrow it down more than this But it might give some sort of clue as to why the fault happened. I have not had this issue since..... HTH AndyJones
andylights Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 (Hi Jonathan) The one and only time this happened to me, it was sorted by a hard reset. Regards, Andy (this was in V1.2)
