Campbellmacd Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Good evening, I am hoping someone can advise on getting the sound to light to work on my son's LC2412 board. There are a number of memories and scenes programmed in, but we cannot get the sound to light to work..having tried numerous times to follow manual etc. If possible a beginners step by step may be beneficial.....is there any way of cchecking if the input is being received by the desk... many thanks Campbell :P :P
prolightdesigner Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Hi I've had a fair amount of trouble getting this feature to work properly, but here's how I did it. First make sure you've got an audio source running into the board. Then select the chase you want to use with the wheel and number key. Press the Sound/Run button (bottom right hand corner) until the LED below sound is illuminated. Set the Chase XFade and Speed sliders to desired levels, and then press the Sound to Light button (three down from the LED number display). Finally set the four sound to light control faders (memories 9-12) to acceptable levels. You should now see some action. Like I said, the board is rather picky with what audio it will accept, but it can work. I opted to just get a foot petal and run my chases that way. Hope this helps!-Jeff
drsound Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Have a quick browse at This Topic where one or two suggestions were mooted. The manual for these has to be the worst written I have encountered in quite a while. Remember that there are two methods of using sound to light on this controller: 1. A chase is programmed an can be triggered to run through its steps to the 'beat' of the music2. Chases or scenes are stored to memories M9 - M12 and these are proportionally added to the output depending on the amplitude of a particular frequency band To get option 1 working all you need to do is get a chase going then press the sound/run button to step through automatic mode into sound activiated mode. Option 2 requires you to store something to one or more of M9, M10, M11 and M12. Press sound to light and as Jeff says you should see the outputs reacting according to the sound input and the level of the faders. Jeff is spot on when he says they're picky about the sound level. They don't seem to have much in the way of normalisation on the input so you have to do this manually. It's probably easiest to see the effect of the audio using Option 1 as you will see the chase step change positively when a beat is detected. If it's not changing enough turn the sound up and if you're getting too much movement turn it down. Cheers,Dave.
