WYSIWYG

Blimey you must have a bit of spare cash lying around .... Anyway,

One thing you can do is go into the Truss Library, goto Floor Mounts and then find the Floater which you can then place on the floor and place a Par 64 Stubbie on top, or any lantern that takes your fancy.

A virtual H stand! :** laughs out loud **:

Worked for me when I played with the demo, I expect there is probably an 'official' way to do it!

What Stu said. I haven't used WYSIWYG for a few versions now, but remember having similar fun with floor lights when I did.

Took me a while to suss and was very frustrating at the time. Especially as I'm one of those people who likes to put about a third of the rig on the floor whenever possible ( I get bored with lighting coming from above all the time).

Plus it's a lot quicker into the truck, right Nick? :** laughs out loud **: :)

I once put 4 x 1kw floor cans in open white around a drum kit. It looked very nice, but the plastic end of a boom arm cymbal stand started to smoke and melt!!!

Newer pars with labels on them specify a minimum distance to illuminated object - I think it's as much as 3m.

Just as a reference pointer, the one sat next to me stats 2.5m.

Thats pretty much the way to do it.. The reason for this is that you cannot hang a wyg fixture on thin air, you can't do it in real life. it must have a reference point which in this case is the virtual H stand or you could use use the Vari*lite stand, this to most peeples eye is the typical old fasioned three pronged floor stand.

Just in case anybody is thinking about it, I strongly advise against hanging an LX bar at floor level and then hanging fixtures on it, you will find that you have to spend time spinning them around so that they are then over slung.

I have to agree with that and on WYSIWYG I like putting pinspots in the wings on booms. really cool

Hi, Just wondering why can I not find any trilite in the WYSIWYG Library?? Am I being really stupid (I have been searching for about 10mins) or is it simply not there!

You are not being stupid it is not there.

The full line of Optikinetics truss has been added into the Release 13 library. This is available June 1st 05

Hope this helps

On a similar theme, is there an 'official' boom stand? I can't find one. At the moment I just have a Pipe at a 90 degree angle. which does the trick but I'm not sure how this will translate into a plan. Apparently there is a way of flattening out vertical hang structures so they look sensible on the plan.

Booms are available in the library - Truss - Boom - select the one you want. Unfortunately they're only in imperial sizes.

As for flattening vertical structures, you want to use New Plots for this. Create a new New Plot, right click on the structure and choose 'Rotate Position'. Now select the direction you wish to rotate the boom (this will depend on the layout of the page) and press OK. The boom is flattened and all the details remain relative to the boom as if it were vertical - move the lanterns up and down the boom, and they move left/right or up/down your page when you print.
