A Few Rules, First...

All photos must be hosted on photobucket.com. We impose this rule as it restricts the file sizes - and reduces our server load.

Maximum of 3 photos per person at a time. This makes it interesting - choose your favorite three, or most interesting/bizzar three.

Right now the fun bits. Basically we want to see your show. You can post renders, plans, photos, sketches, whatever. Small scale or Classical Spectacular, we want to see it. Obviously if you're in the business of small scale recieving with a new show every night, perhaps its best not to post photos every night, but once a month should be okay.

The format should be: Picture, with a small caption underneath.

I'll start the ball rolling. I'm currently doing a design for an amdram '25 Years of Nailsea Musicals' show, and experimenting with WYSIWYG at college. Below are 3 renders of the show - perhaps if you're lucky, I'll upload some real pics when the shows up and running.

This is my favorite state of the show. Rosco43, Rosco 69, Rosco 312.

A random solo, complete with the band 'doing their funky thing'

The rig includes 36 x Birdies along the front of the stage - note the gels make the WYG people look naked.

Anyone else?

Jesus Christ Superstar, School Musical, Easter 2004

Sorry about the poor quality. The camera tries to adjust itself to the light levels - not a good idea when you're taking a pic of a lit set!

These don't really do it justice, but then again I would say that! The light you see was a preset for when the punters are arriving - sadly all the in-show photos are on my school account. Ah well...

What the SM sees... Note the dodgy ropelight on the steps!

Ouch! Look at the angle of that boom! This was sorted shortly afterwards.

Ahh, the days of hall gigging: half hour get in, 2 T-bars (3 P64's on each) 4 floor cans.

The phrase keeps wringing in my head 'Find your light'?? just me?

yup: legs and kit in background - pics aren't great. and a slight view of the cable mass.

not much different. nice colours, don't ask me what numbers: came out of the phorbiden draw of doom.

Opening number: notice the lovely shadow's cast from the floor cans.

quite weird what you can achieve within 30 mins: control via Z88 XS and 2beta's. and some cleaver wiring involving a 'widow maker'.

Ah... you leave a topic overnight and people post huge pictures into it! In my rush to get to bed last night, I didnt explain the 'rules' bit very well. Let me try again

A Few Rules, First...

All photos must be hosted on an external server. If you don't have your own webspace, photobucket.com provide free space. We impose this rule as it reduces our server load.

No photo should be more than 30kb to download. Not everyone is on broadband.

Photos should be sized at or around 640x480 resolution. Again, some users are still browsing at 640x480 and that'll break their frames, so thats a maximum.

Photobucket allow you to resize your image on their servers - once you've uploaded it, select "edit" and then choose a size to resize to. Hopefully if everyone abides by these rules then we won't be causing too much of a 'lag'.

Maximum of 3 photos per person at a time. This makes it interesting - choose your favorite three, or most interesting/bizzar three.

These are some pictures of a Uni Summer Ball last year (2003). If you click on the small image, it should take you too a bigger version.

Firstly, the stage, complete with video screens.

The dancefloor light rig makes it to the roof:

Here is the dancefloor, complete with decor, after the doors opened.

And for those wanting to know some of the specs.......

The Stage Lighting rig (generics +macs), along with the video for the stage screens was controlled from an Avolites Sapphire. The dancefloor lightrig ( Clay Paky Mini-HPEs, Stage Scans, Moving head lasers, Macs) was controlled from an Avo Pearl. The sound was a Renkus Heinz PA, Yahama PM3500 FOH desk, Lab Gruppen Amps. Martin Audio wedges and a Soundcraft monitors desk.

How about limiting the size of the pictures/photos etc. in terms of pixels as well as physical size of the file (as they do with avatars on some forums),

Some of the photos in the above posts do not fit onto a complete monitor screen :P

I checked one of the larger pics and it turned out to be 900 x 1200 pixels !

I'm sure it could be reduced to a much smaller size without losing too much definition

Or you can do what I did and post thumbnails linked to big pictures. The code goes something like this:

[newline][/newline][ URL=http://mybigpicture][ IMG]http://mylittlepicture[ /IMG][ /URL][newline][/newline]

Take the spaces out after the [ (I added these in so the code could be seen here)

The Miniscan HPEs and all the generics are owned by us. We subbed the Macs in from Entec IIRC. The moving head lasers came from a company we discovered at a White Light Open Day whose name escapes me for the moment.

The Lasers weren't from LaserLight International were they? We've used them for a good few shows and I know they have moving head lasers based on a Nat Zoom...quite pokey, although nowhere near the power of their big daddies....! Neat show Wilf
