Steve Thomas Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 My set up for live 5 piece pop/covers band is: Martin Audio F12/ S15, M3 (Martin Audio) Limiter/Controller and Dynacord Powermate mixer (note that I do not use this powered and insert Lab Gruppen amps). For what I need, there is plenty of power and clarity for gigs ranging from 100-300 people. However I would prefer a better eq facility for the various hotels and marquees we play in. Do I need to replace my M3 controller (which Rob Beech says is limited) with say a Driverack, or some other digital LMS (if so, then which one) or do I just add a good quality graphic eq to improve. The vocal sound is the key here as I now have quality sound but perhaps a little sterile sounding vocals?
aidso Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I would try an EQ and keep the controller first and see how it sounds. Get a good quality EQ like a KT, BSS or DBX. If your still not happy then put in a LMS as well as the EQ. Trying to EQ on a LMS every night is a pain really.
