maxlex
Dear members of the Forum! Maybe, my question is dumb a little but, nevertheless, whether any company manufactures HMI lighting fixtures over 18 kW or such items are not produced (not only in mass-production). Possibly, some experts in motion picture lighting equipment adjust lamps of well-known lighting devices to run under a common lamp head and so the power of light output multiplies. If it's not difficult, please, help me with that question. With best regards,Maxlex,a manager of film equipment rental firm,Minsk, Belarus
adam2
I am not aware of any HMI fixture over 18KW.These are listed on the ARRI LIGHTING website as the most powerful HMI lights available in the world, and whilst manufacturers claims are not allways true, ARRI are a reputable supplier and the claim is therefore probably true. musht
Not really HMI, think they may be some sort of xenon long arc, Luminsys used to be LightingStrikes make the Soft Sun series in range of sizes 3.3K 3.5K 3.6K 10K 25K 50K 100K that is continuous Kilowatts :-0 http://www.luminyscorp.com
csg
I am not aware of any fixtures bigger than 18kw HMI( arri, silver bullet etc) or 24K tungsten I use the 18k arri heads ( as remote controlled heads) occasionally, and anything bigger would be impractical. If you really need a bigger lamp, then a brute arc might be the only way to go, but these are now more or less museum pieces. In reply to the above post, long arc xenon is not a practical option for film lighting. they are strictly effects lighting and are not thermally capable of long term operation. lxdad
I don't mean to be difficult, but the SoftSun range is designed for film lighting and is available up to a bonkers 100kW. Have a look here. I would talk to Panalux if you decide you want one, if they don't have any they will be able to tell you where to get them. maxlex
Megawatt-thanks to all! Artificial suns from http://www.luminyscorp.com, probably, will do for us). It needs time to hold a consultation on them with colleagues. I wonder, is it reasonable to use in film shooting the item: http://www.luminyscorp.com/pdf/LabLtSecSheet0907.pdf ? Or it is for high speed photography "exclusively"? To lxdad: we'll think over and I'll write soon in any case.
