thewhirlwind
Hijust got a pair of EAW NT29's and wanted to check that I'm using the right leads to run to them from my mixer.Am I right in using any reasonable quality mic lead and is there any restriction on length like there is on a speaker lead.many thanks for any replies. Also I might have a pair of EAW jfx290's for sale if anyones interested (pretty much as new condition)Sean

Simon Lewis
yes thats right, also no restriction on lengths Within reason this is true. However, for completeness, it's worth pointing out that the interconnect bandwidth will be affected by the mixer output impedance, the load impedance presented by the powered speaker and the cable capacitance. In extreme cases, it's possible to create a distinctly audible low pass filter. Furthermore, depending upon cable capacitance and the slew rate of the output devices, the capacitance of a long cable will limit the output devices ability to swing the required full output voltage at high frequencies. It's unlikely that such a situation will be encountered with a single pair of powered speakers (unless they are run with the desk 300m away!) but these factors should be considered on "bigger" systems.
