New LeMaitre Gas Flame System

Did anyone else get a chance to look at the new LeMaitre Gas Flame system at PLASA this year? The control system looks sh*t hot, and the safety/pressure checks on the system make it look very safe for temp/permanent installs. Interested to know what other people think about it as we're thinking of investing in a system to rent out...

No it's a new control system from BSTE, allows you to monitor pressure in the accumulators, heat above flames, carbon monoxide levels in the room, height of flame and print them out for management/H+S. It also features as many dead mans handles as you want in the form of a foot switch and allows you to program sequences and chases with up to 16 'heads'. The idea is that you can link it to any type of 'head' and it will know what that is and what it's capable of.

Yep, that's the one I'm reffering to ;) Hoping to get a play with it this week  The TouchScreen HMI makes things nice and easy to operate, and as wycome5 says, the Dead Mans handle means you just take your finger off and the effect stops immediately (or near enough).

Must admit I hate shooting cues on touch-screens!

Me too! Give me a nice tactile big red button any day!

You mean the big Red one marked fire on it above the second keyswitch

Must say... after all the fuss that's made on Blue Room about SPAG, I also wasn't impressed to see two spelling mistakes on the front screen! Sequence spelt as "sequance"...?

Hadn't noticed this, but I'm sure it'll be a typo in the programming and take about 2seconds to fix...

I think you may be missing the point!

Enlighten me? In my business, often the last thing to be spell checked/proof read is the UI, we tend to concentrate on making things actually work ;)

I quite understand that. However, as the end user (without in-depth knowledge of the research and development applied to the product) the only way I can make a judgement on the attention to detail in the design of the product is the functionality and the appearance of the front-end. I haven't had a chance to play with the functionality yet, so...

I assure you, it's not my intention to knock this system. I haven't yet played with it and will reserve my final judgements until after that. These are my personal opinions only, and therefore count for nothing! :o

Have to say I'm with scjb.

Whatever the product, if it goes out to the public (even in beta format) and the designers haven't made the effort to check the simplest errors in the interface then how much confidence does that instill in potential customers for the amount of detailed checking in the bits that we can't see....?

I havent seen your (???) sysetm, I've only seen it in a very low res tiny jpg. I meant in general.

And I understand the desire to get defensive over a product that you have obviously worked hard over, but in my experience, you can rub people up the wrong way very easily if criticism (good or bad) is not listened to - after all, I am asuming that the model on show at plasa was a prototype and you will go away and fix the spelling mistakes.

I agree with scjb withe reference to the spelling errors, I'm guilty of doing exactly the same thing a few times :o - it is all about first impressions with a customer - and im not sure if you realise, but Myself and scjb ar probably your 2 best chances of a sale on here!

One other thing that I must admit shocked me was the price! I cant remember what it was, but I was driving and when I was told I nearly crashed my car because I was in fits of laughter. Please enlighten us again to how much it is (just in case I was mis informed).

Edit to add: BTW, your posts do point me in the direction that you had somthing to do with the development of the system!, If I am wrong please tell me because I'm all confused now after noticing that you were the original poster!
