MTX Soundcraftsmen MX300

I've been asked to look at an MTX Soundcraftsmen MX300 mixer/sampler which has lost its ability to sample. (As a piece of DJ gear I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the o/p.) However, I'm a bit reluctant to delve into the middle of it without any tech. info. and I owe the guy a serious favour. Yes, I know it's getting on a bit but it seems to be a good performer.

IIRC in the early 90s, the MTX Soundcraftsmen range of DJ mixers was identical to the original Numark range (I think after the "original" Numark Industries went into liquidation). This was the end of the era when a Numark mixer was high end kit (the DM1975 being their flagship with 4-second onboard sampler, retailing around the £1,600 mark)

 

The MTX range was very short lived, less than 2 years, after which all the "new" low budget Numark kit flooded the market, after the company was salvaged with Abstract being the sole UK distributor for a short peiod of time, before the company became re-established in the UK.

 

If you are familiar with working on early Numark kit, 1775s, 1975s etc, this MTX baby will be identical under the bonnet. In fact the MX300 may be the same as a DM1975 (with one large dampened stop/start sampler button) , as I seem to remember the MX500 had four of the things!
