Nic Ireland Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 I am looking to find a good representation of Guinness for a show and would be grateful for any ideas you may have.
Maddison Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Depends how close the audience you have too fool are, but cold black coffee with whipped cream (not too thick though) should work... If they have to drink it, then I'd suggest that you sweeten the coffee a little...
ed_ Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I have no idea what the solution is - but if you are from Ireland and know anyone who worked with the Fab Beast company, apparently their show 'The Bull' in the Dublin Theatre Festival (O'Reilly Theatre) several years ago involved a man at the top of a 7m vertical ladder drinking pints of 'Guinness' for the entire show. They'll know!
w/robe Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 This may be a really stupid question but does it have to be non-alcoholic? I only ask as I worked on a show where Stage Management spent ages doing all the usual tricks to try and make convincing bitter that would last throughout the show until the actor pointed out that since he only consumed 1 pint in 90 minutes he was probably not going to get drunk. The prop was then supplied by the theatre bar each night.
J Pearce Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 This is a link to a rather useful site selling alcohol free beverages of the normally alcoholic variety.
ristuuk Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 as I have lived in belfast for twenty years...non alcoholic guiness?!....tut tut shame on you!! (we have used the coke and cream method for shows)
Nic Ireland Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 Thank you to all of you who have replied. I too believe it a very bad thing to have to find a non-alcoholic version! I'll try the coke and cream tomorrow!! Thank you
