Badge Engineered Moving heads

hey guys!

just a little topic to start off in here as I am trying to research into at the moment, badge engineered moving heads.

I have pounded google & looked through the pages on here (either I am using wrong keywords or just looking in the wrong places) is there anyone that could point me into the direction of companies that supply badge engineered moving heads (the ones that retail at the £600 mark 250watt etc)?

for example if I wanted to start a badge engineered company where would I look for suppliers?

has someone here tried it? (whether successful or failed?)

I am after information, not after 200 replies or topical discussion on whether its a good thing or a bad thing!!

any info would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

I can't give you any specific names, but I imagine that companies in China is where most of the people go to... I highly doubt there is any manufacturers in the UK.

From what I understand, companies send their badges over on OEM products, they have their badge stamped on them, as do the 120 other companies selling exactly the same products with different makes/models stamped on the case. Then the Chinese manufctuers send a container of a few thousand a few weeks later.

Everyone claims to make the units, as to who really does, I doubt you will find out without a visit to China, and even then they take you to a non descript factory and claim it's theirs, the next day so does another supplier.

http://www.ec21.com/ are similar to alibaba

Remember in China you get what you pay for, they can make it a dollar cheaper by leaving off the earth cables, don't think you just negotiated yourself a deal, the washers just got left off and the paint is now only 1 coat.

If you are spending real money, visit the factory to specify and again as your containers are being loaded, and buy spares next week they will have no idea what the gears were or who they bought them from.

Hi

Just beware of what you're paying for. I've seen some just-out-of-the-box chinese LED parcans immediately and comprehensively fail PAT testing. Some of their kit is starting to look a little better now, but be aware that spare parts will be difficult to get hold of and in any case the cost of repairing a broken unit will be more than buying a new one.

All the best
