StuRobson Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 I know some might feels it's a real pain in the backside; I did when I started as the arts technician Gillingham School. I have been feeling that the drama department need a good kick up the jacksy and make sure that everything is done 'with good common sense' or as our gent in charge of Health and Safety calls 'Health and Safety'. SO.... Anyone know of a list or would like to help make one of all 'known' risks so that I can come up with a set of risk assessments so that I won't be left with doing them as and when they come up - just a list...So far I've got... Naked Flames,Suspending Props,Flammable Materials,Scaffold Tower Use,Ladder Use, Any ideas for any more ??? Thanks in advance... Stu

chris Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 Vibration injurys, heavy prolonged use of tools such as jigsaws can cause serious damage, aparently
Pete McCrea Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 It's known as Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and the HSE have info on it I think. Affects people using pneumatic drills/whacker plates or pretty much any vibratory equipment. The limit on exposure is quite low I think, something like a matter of minutes per hour. I think the onus is on manufacturers that produce the equipment to stop it transmitting the vibrations to the operator. </civil engineering junk>
StuRobson Posted April 30, 2004 Author Posted April 30, 2004 Andrew C - what do you mean by Edge protection on stages / rostra cheers in advance, Stu.
