Strand Multidim

Does anyone have any information on the Strand Multidim. We use them for house light control but as they are no longer supported by strand it is hard to get any wiring info on them. What I am particularly interested in is the control standard they use as I need to add extra control points to the system. Cheers in advance

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, why not phone Strand up? They may not be made anymore (if you say so), but that's not to mean they don't still have information about them - you might even get hold of someone who worked on them. They might even still have some outstations around, if that's what you need (equally, SLX/Northern Light/The Service Company/other strand dealers may have some).

You are best mailing John Wright (jwright@stranduk.com) as he is head of technical service (well actually he IS technical service -due to cutbacks). John is at least 150 years old and has been with Strand forever, so knows most of the control and dimming products, that have been produced in the last 20-30 years.

However, don't overload him with questions and queries, as he has enough on his plate as it is.

Multidim production stopped around 1997, but John has a very good library of old manuals, diagrams, etc.

Thanks for the help. I tried to get info from strand but via a distributer who said they could not get anything and that the control boxes were no longer made but I have not tried Strand direct. Will get in touch and see how we go. Thanks again.

That's very true! Even if John's not 150 years old, large parts of his beard must surely be ....

I'll vouch for the fact that he's a very helpful and knowledgeable chap, though - I've had occasion to enlist his assistance in the past, and he's always come up with the goods.
