ruibr
Dear posters, Earlier this year I bought a couple of RCT TT25SMA monitors. We forced our distributor to get a pair because we were very curious :D about them, since we have 10 RCF 4Pro monitors and are very happy with them. But the 4Pros's are a bit big for small stages. We were very impressed with the TT series monitors (we allready had the line-array) and they are worth the money we spent. The thing is, it's a lot of money when you think about 8+ units. So I was looking for alternatives and found this DVX DM series from dbTech...! They actually share the same distributor in Portugal but he never showed these to me (smart bugger :) ).They seem very competent and price friendly, I mean, with the same price of the 4Pro series you get more power, the same RCF speakers (probably the same amps also) and a much lower signature on stage.I'm now very curious but I think it will take some convincing to get my distributor to get some test units for me, now that I bought the TT units. So, has anyone worked with, or tested these units? Can you give me your opinion, I would appreciate especially from people who also heard the alternatives I spoke earlier. Thanks in advance... Greg RCF
Hi Ruibr, The db wedge, does not use the same amps or drivers as in the TT+ boxes, but a similar amp and drivers to the digital arts, so although still of a good quality, the performance and audio quality will be different. I am afraid that you get what you pay for! Regards Greg
wmcalin
I asked the same question last week, regarding the RCF TT25a compared to the DVX 15 and horn sorry cannot remember the model number.I was informed the amps were the same only less power, TT25a delivers 1.5K and the DVX ?? delivers 1K, also told the speakers are also RCF but again not the same spec as the TT range ? can you confirm if the speakers are the same ? but like you I'm going to demo the units these sound like they could be an excellent speaker. I know the TT range is excelent but the price !! ouch I'm not sure if the DVX range has been shiped to the uk, I think we will get the range early September. ruibr
Well, I know that there will be differences, the thing is how does that affect price/quality relationship when compared to the TT series.I would be happy with a similar performance to the 4Pros from these wedges, but with the plus of the low signature on stage.Next week I'll try to convince my distributor to get some units for testing but I'd still wellcome your feedback. If I could afford it, I would buy 8 more TTSMA units but it takes a lot of time to get that kind of investment back here in Portugal. And if the performance from the db units is satisfactory it is easier and faster to get return from that investment.
