deranged-angel Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 Hey alldoes anyone have a subscription to the british theatre directory or access to one....some silly sod has nicked ours out the library.I am looking for plans for the Brewery arts centre in kendal. It's proving a difficult task!!! I have to make a scale model for uni. Thank you very very much :) Emxxx
tonythetechie Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 Em If you give The Brewery a call I'm sure they will be more than willing to help you out with plans. The Technical Manager is Steve Parnaby. Otherwise I will have a copy of their Specification at home, I'll be heading for home on Sunday if you can wait till next week. Hope This Helps Tony
gareth Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 You could ring the Brewery on 01539 725133 and ask them for some drawings. Don't expect too much, though - if I remember correctly from the last time I took a tour in there (quite a while ago!), the plans that they issue as part of the tech spec are a bit ropey and not particularly good or especially accurate. Hang on, hasn't this subject come up on this forum before? {Uses search function for the word "Brewery"} Ah, yes, here it is - posted by your good self on 10th March. I take it you didn't get anything more useful than the vague sketches that they've already sent you, then? Looks like Modelbox have a groundplan of the Brewery on their files - they'll charge you for it, though.(Their plans are usually pretty detailed, but if that JPEG file is anything to go by it looks like there's a lot of detail missing from their drawing in this particular instance ...)
deranged-angel Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 yeah I have posted this before but I didnt get anymore than the plans from steve! Thought I'd put it in a seperate post which people are mor elikely to read. It's very bizarre, there aren't even any pics of the space online! Nevermind, I'll just try to work to these drawings. If I screw it up, it's all part of the evaluation process:"I tried to make a model of the theatre but when I got there the steps weren't on that side nor did the space look anything like the model. However, I feel the attempt was good considering the accuracy of the plans." ** laughs out loud ** Emxxx
gareth Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 If you're not getting any joy from the venue, your last resort is Steve Wentworth at Modelbox. Give him a call and ask him if he can do you a deal if you assure him that the plan is for educational purposes only. The worst he can do is say no ...
la grande homme Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 or a trip to kendal... with a tape measure and a pencil... I hear the mint cake is good...
gareth Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 or a trip to kendal... with a tape measure and a pencil... I hear the mint cake is good... ... and there's a very good fish'n'chip shop, across the road from the theatre and down the hill a bit ... :)
andy_s Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 Not to mention the various pubs selling good cumbrian ale - another thing to blame the model on if it doesn't turn out right!
deranged-angel Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 have managed to make a general model out of the plans for the brewery. Not so good on detail though. Does anyone who has been there remember how the winds are set out? And also the cutrain at the front. And also the crossover at the back, is it just one wall of wood like this: --------------------------------------------------- or is it more like this: I-----------------------------------------------------------------------I[newline][/newline]I Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Iif you get what I mean?! So, is it one straight piece or does it have edges coming down into the wongs. These drawings are about as technical as the brewery's! ** laughs out loud ** Cheers Emxxx
deranged-angel Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 ahh, that little 'drawing' didnt come out as it did when I typed it! hope you know what I mean!!! emxxx (def not a set designer!!!!)
