mervaka
the other thing to note is, I'd expect digital desks to depreciate faster than a good analogue one. digital desks are in their infancy, whereas analogue desks have long since matured. MarkPAman
I'm not sure how true that is. I remember seeing a Yamaha digital desk in the early/mid 80s (though very basic by today's standards) at PLASA or somewhere similar. If you can find a used digi desk (seems to only be old ones that are common), it does not seem to have dropped in price by any more than a comparable analogue. Also, digital desks can be updated with new firmware releases and cards for cardslots. For example Mackie are soon to provide full input/output patching with the next firmware issue & some clever speaker management on a card. mervaka
only time will tell! you have a good point about software patches though. while I was thinking along the lines of PC hardware, I doubt this sort of software will change much, though I'd expect to have a DSP processor/ram upgrade at some point. Ben Langfeld
dont get me started on the LS9 its digital for the sake of digital and it doesnt sound that nice and its overly complicated!!! THIS IS ALSO VERY OFF TOPIC The LS9 is incredibly simple (I've seen monkeys operating them), is digital because it reduces footprint, weight and complexity, and to top it off, sounds just as good as any analogue with outboard for £6k. Health warning: some parts of this post may be lies - if you're struggling to work out which bits, go have a lie down.
willtom
I'm thinking of getting an LS9-32 soon. So, if you know where I can get one & have enough change from £5000 to buy even one SM58, or more to the point a case for the desk, then please let me know. http://www.ctspro.co.uk/main_site/page.php?16Has one listed at £4950, if you'r lucky on your SM58, you can just come in under £5k. MarkPAman
So, there's a second hand one for £4950 + VAT. <_< Sort of sujests that they do hold their value doesn't it! At that price I think I'd prefer to pay a litte more for a new one.

I got quoted £4,599 around 9 months ago from AC. With £400 you should be able to get an AKG Drum set and a 58 on top.
waster
Yamaha's pricing has just gone up... LMC are probably the best advertised price you'll get. It was £4700 with them a month ago...
